Injectable Treatments for Crow's Feet and Frown Lines

Injectable Treatments for Crow's Feet and Frown Lines

Facial wrinkles like crow’s feet and frown lines are a natural part of getting older, but people of all different ages can get them, too. Overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays, smoking, dehydration, and other environmental and genetic factors can all leave you with wrinkles.

Residents of Clayton, Rabun County, and Northeast Georgia looking to reduce wrinkles can find help with family nurse practitioner Monique Petteys and her experienced team here at The Women's Center at Life Point Medical.

The treatment for crow’s feet and frown lines often includes a variety of injectable treatments like Botox® and Xeomin®. Both of these treatments are similar, but there are important differences to consider before getting treated.

To understand these anti-aging injectables and how they can help, let’s examine the types of facial wrinkles you may have and what Botox and Xeomin can do.

Understanding facial wrinkles

Wrinkles that develop around your eyes and forehead fit into one of two categories, dynamic or static

Dynamic wrinkles develop from facial movements you do over and over again, such as the lines you get around your lips if you pucker them frequently. Crow’s feet and frown lines fit into this category, because they’re based on repeated actions, like squinting and frowning.

Static wrinkles come from the loss of elasticity in your face over time. Eventually, gravity takes over and causes things like jowls to form.

How injectables help

Injectables, as the name implies, are injections of different types of dermal fillers or other materials that relax wrinkles, add volume, and help contour areas of your face.

The result helps you look younger, and with 4 million treatments done in 2019 alone, they are quite a popular choice. Dermal fillers are good for filling in deep wrinkle lines and contouring cheeks and lips, but relaxing wrinkles is done with injections of either Botox or Xeomin.

Botox or Xeomin?

These two injectables are different brands of botulinum toxin type A, which is a substance used for many medical and cosmetic needs.

Both are ideal for treating things like involuntary eye twitching or dynamic wrinkles such as frown lines, because they relax the muscles in those areas. However, they should not be used interchangeably

Your specialist will help you determine which injectable is right for you. So, if you’re ready to say goodbye to wrinkles, fine lines and creases, request an appointment online or call 706-493-7469 to make an appointment with Monique Petteys at The Women's Center at Life Point Medical today.
